Stella di Thera Blu tiles are fresco tiles inspired by the wall paintings of Thera: polished slip surface, similar technique to that used in Ancient Greek Pottery. These tiles have the aged and weathered look of ancient frescoed walls. Instead of a conventional glaze, they have a satin finish, fired to 1045°C for colour stability, and are sealed to ensure they are impervious to water and grease.

Stella di Thera Blu Tiles in Ivory and Blue

The name means Star of Thera, reflected in a curved four-lobed form that fills each square tile. Pale blue spandrels gather around the ivory motif, while fine brown stepped lines create a smaller angular figure within it. Across a larger layout, these details connect into a measured field of stars, crosses and diamonds.

Soft abrasion, tonal drift and irregular markings give the blue and ivory ceramic tiles the character of an aged painted wall. The low-sheen surface allows the geometry to remain clear without the strong reflections associated with a conventional glossy glaze.

The wall paintings recovered at Akrotiri on Thera, modern Santorini, include sophisticated geometric as well as figurative decoration. Preserved beneath volcanic pumice and ash, they reveal how Bronze Age interiors combined mineral colour with carefully ordered line and pattern.

These Aegean geometric tiles interpret that visual language through a weathered satin ceramic surface rather than reproducing one named fresco.

Planning the Stella di Thera Repeat

The pattern becomes clearer when several modules are assembled. Tile orientation determines how the curved lobes, blue junctions and stepped brown lines connect, so a dry layout is recommended before fixing. A restrained grout tone can help the individual pieces read as one continuous fresco-like field.

Stella di Thera Primaverina and Stella di Thera Rosa offer the same underlying geometry in alternative palettes, allowing related areas or adjoining rooms to share a common rhythm.
