Peacock Garden – Iznik Tile

This Iznik peacock tile is a striking Iznik-inspired ceramic tile featuring a stylised peacock framed by curling floral vines, rendered in the classic cobalt-blue palette associated with Islamic ceramic traditions.

Peacock Garden centres on a bold, graphic bird with arched neck and layered feather detailing, set within a scrolling border of tulip-like blooms, leaves and stems. The design balances symmetry and movement: dense cross-hatching and scale-like feather marks create texture, while the surrounding botanicals keep the composition light and rhythmic.

Finished in deep cobalt on a clean white ground, this tile is designed for wall applications and works beautifully as a single framed feature, a repeat field, or as part of a larger Iznik-style panel with complementary borders and corner elements. As a hand finished piece, expect subtle variation in line, glaze depth and tone that enhances the artisanal character.

Iznik Peacock Tile as a Focal Panel

The complete view establishes the peacock as a self-contained square composition rather than a conventional all-over repeat. The closer detail reveals the contrast between the cross-hatched body, scale-like tail feathers, curved neck and looser floral linework around the edge. Cobalt washes vary from dense blue to softer translucent marks, giving the drawing more movement than a printed surface. Because the bird has a clear orientation, panel layouts should be planned before fixing, particularly where several tiles, borders or corner pieces are combined.

For related work within this collection, Ottoman Tulip Vine Tile develops the surrounding floral language as a repeating botanical field, while Shoal Star Medallion – Islamic Ceramic Tile offers another narrative animal composition. Elsewhere at De Ferranti, Peacock Polychrome Mosaic interprets the bird through stone mosaic, and Signature Series – Hand-Painted Peacock Tile provides a different artisan-painted ceramic treatment. These alternatives help distinguish whether a project calls for monochrome drawing, polychrome mosaic or a broader mixed panel.

Peacock Garden is particularly suited to niches, framed wall panels, fireplace overmantels and other positions where its centred composition can be read without interruption. Samples should be reviewed for line, glaze and tonal variation before the final panel arrangement is approved.
