This charcoal quatrefoil terracotta tile is hand-painted on an off-white ground, inspired by the graphic elegance of Paris in the early 20th century and designed to create a timeless, architectural repeat.
This pattern centres on a soft quatrefoil motif held within a diamond framework, creating a strong geometric structure with a gentle ornamental heart. The charcoal linework gives definition and depth, while the off-white field keeps the overall effect calm, bright, and highly versatile.
Laid in repeat, the design forms a continuous lattice that reads classic from a distance and richly crafted up close, with the terracotta base lending warmth and authenticity. As with all hand-painted tiles, subtle variation in brushwork, tone, and edge character is part of the charm.
Ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, entrance halls, stair halls, splashbacks, and feature walls where you want pattern that feels refined, urban, and quietly enduring.
The Le Pal 2 – Charcoal Spade Motif on Off-White offers a simpler single-motif repeat, while Le Marei 1 – Charcoal and Paprika on Off-White adds diagonal structure and warm colour.
The Medievalissimo – Heraldic Creature Quatrefoil Tile (Ochre and Black) uses the quatrefoil as a heraldic frame, and the Lapis and Jasper Eye Quatrefoil Inlay Panel translates it into semi-precious stone inlay.
Centre complete quatrefoils at the most visible points, including over basins, ranges and fireplace openings. Pale grout will maintain the off-white ground; charcoal grout will emphasise the tile grid. Confirm substrate, joint width, slip performance and warm-climate exterior suitability, and review several samples together for brushwork, tone and edge variation.
