Ink Black Cocteau Tiles bring Neisha Crosland’s florid Cocteau motif into a darker, more graphic decorative surface. Part of De Ferranti’s FLORIS collection, Cocteau – Ink Black is a 20 cm x 20 cm handpainted antiqued terracotta tile with a confident black pattern suited to interiors that need rhythm, contrast and crafted detail.
The Cocteau design takes its inspiration from an ironwork fire fender found by Neisha Crosland in a flea market. That source gives the tile its curling movement, but the repeat is controlled enough to work across larger surfaces without becoming too busy. In Ink Black, the line has a sharper presence, giving the pattern structure and a slightly theatrical character.
This colourway is especially useful where a room needs definition. It can sit against pale stone, plaster, timber, brass, leather, antique mirror or other specialist De Ferranti materials, adding pattern without relying on strong colour.
Cocteau – Ink Black is listed with a handpainted antiqued finish, which gives the tile a worked surface rather than a flat printed appearance. Small variations in line, ground and finish help the repeat feel alive when installed across a wall, floor or feature area.
Ink Black Cocteau Tiles can be specified for bathrooms, kitchens, fireplace surrounds, floors, walling, leisure spaces, residential interiors, restaurants, swimming pool tile areas and external use in warm climates, subject to project requirements. Used as a kitchen splashback or shower wall, the motif becomes a strong decorative accent. Used more broadly, it can create a complete patterned field with a disciplined, almost ironwork-like rhythm.
