Cream and wax lattice tiles offer a softer way to introduce repeat pattern, geometry and handpainted surface detail into an interior. Lattice – Wax/Cream is described by De Ferranti as one of the most delicate designs in the Haveli collection, using simple lines, angles and dots to create a visual rhythm across the tile. The wax and cream palette keeps the pattern warm and restrained, making it especially useful where a surface needs movement without heavy contrast.
The most delicate of the designs in this collection, this product is another investigation into what can be done with simple lines, angles and dots when put into repeat.
“I always think that putting shapes into repeat is a bit like arranging notes in music only it produces a visual rhythm and tune rather than audible one. I hope this collection demonstrates this,” says Neisha of her work for De Ferranti.
The design has a quiet structural quality. Dots and linear marks are placed in repeat so the eye reads both order and variation, rather than a rigid printed grid. Across a splashback, bathroom wall, fireplace surround, restaurant interior or residential setting, these cream and wax lattice tiles can create a calm decorative field with a tactile, handmade presence. The effect is subtle, but not plain.
As part of Neisha Crosland – HAVELI, Lattice – Wax/Cream belongs to a family of glazed terracotta tiles with distressed matte finishes, earthy colours and small geometric designs. The handpainted finish gives the surface its particular value: slight shifts in mark, tone and glaze help the repeat feel alive, while the cream and wax colourway keeps the overall scheme warm, balanced and easy to place.
