Orange red patterned tiles bring warmth, movement and a stronger decorative charge to the Pollen design. Pollen – Orange/Red began as a design from a velvet devore scarf by Neisha Crosland, later translated into the Haveli collection as a handpainted ceramic repeat. Jagged triangular forms, angular motifs, spokes and clustered dots create a surface with energy and rhythm, while the orange and red palette gives the tile depth, heat and intensity.
For this product, we find a design that started life on a velvet devore scarf that Neisha designed.
The arrangement of jagged edges triangles, angular motifs and spokes and dots have always interested Neisha and it is a theme she still plays with.
“I always think that putting shapes into repeat is a bit like arranging notes in music only it produces a visual rhythm and tune rather than audible one. I hope this collection demonstrates this,” as Neisha herself says.
The name Pollen comes from the clustered dots within the design, which reminded Neisha of pollen gathered in small groups. Across a wall, splashback, bathroom, restaurant interior or carefully specified floor, these orange red patterned tiles create a rich decorative field. The repeat has movement, but it is still controlled enough to work within considered interiors where colour needs to feel deliberate rather than accidental.
As part of Neisha Crosland – HAVELI, Pollen – Orange/Red belongs to a family of handpainted glazed terracotta tiles with distressed matte surfaces, earthy colourways and small geometric designs. The red ground gives this colourway a more immersive character than the blue or grey versions, while the orange detailing keeps the pattern bright, animated and clearly legible. The handpainted finish is important because it gives the surface variation, tactility and evidence of the maker’s hand.

This product also appears in the Neisha Crosland Haveli Collection Exterior Garden Wall and Tile-Clad Seating project, where multiple Haveli patterns are used together in a decorative garden wall and integrated tiled seating scheme. Orange red patterned tiles of this kind are especially useful where a project needs colour, repeat and craft to work together as part of a complete surface composition.
