Neisha Crosland
Florida

Florida floral terracotta tiles belong to Woodstock, a collection of vibrant terracotta tile designs inspired by the energy and creativity of the 1970s. A large radial flower is paired with a cross-shaped companion module, creating a decorative repeat that feels generous, graphic and deliberately unconventional.

Florida floral terracotta tiles in a 1970s palette

The principal bloom combines dusty mauve, muted taupe and deep plum over a pale blue-grey ground, with a yellow centre and small dark accents marking the rhythm of the petals. Its partner tile places an ochre circle and green four-leaf motif within a pale field, finished with coral dots and fine radiating lines. The hand-painted majolica surface retains changes in colour density, brushwork and crackle, lending the strong geometry a softer, collected character.

Within Woodstock, Baez offers a cooler turquoise and yellow modular arrangement, while Zeppelin expands the flower-and-leaf language through several interlocking shapes. For a broader study of hand-painted botanical surfaces, see Neisha Crosland – FLORIS. De Ferranti’s Plain Colours & Glazes can provide quieter companion fields where the Florida repeat needs visual space.

Setting out the flower and cross modules

Florida floral terracotta tiles work most clearly when the two modules are planned as a complete field rather than treated as isolated accents. Prepare a scaled layout that shows full repeats, boundaries, corners, joinery and fittings. The flower has a strong centre, so alignment becomes particularly visible across long walls or open floors. Grout may be selected to trace each outline or to sit closer to the pale ground and soften the joints.

Review samples together, since slight differences in glaze and painting are part of the finished surface. For floor, pool, wet-area or warm-climate exterior use, seek project-specific guidance on preparation, sealing, falls and fixing. Edge conditions may require carefully planned cuts or a plain glazed border.
