Zellige Diamond Lattice Mosaic in Green and White

This green and white zellige mosaic is hand-cut and arranged in a diamond lattice that brings crisp geometry and a fresh contrast, softened by the natural glaze variation and surface life of handmade ceramics.

This repeating pattern creates a subtle sense of depth, with alternating diamond forms that read almost three-dimensional as the eye moves across the surface. The green zellige has a gently varied, kiln-fired glaze that catches light unevenly from tile to tile, while the white elements keep the composition bright and architectural.

Minor variations in tone, thickness, and edge detail are integral to authentic zellige and give the finished surface its signature shimmer rather than a flat, printed look.

Ideal for bathrooms, shower walls, kitchen splashbacks, courtyards, stair risers, and feature panels, especially when paired with calmer surrounding materials to let the pattern do the work.

Green and white zellige mosaic geometry

Elongated white pieces, deep green diamonds and smaller green junctions form a continuous interlocking field. The repeat has no dominant centre, allowing it to extend across compact panels or larger surfaces while retaining its measured rhythm. Across a broad installation, the green and white zellige mosaic gains movement from subtle shifts in glaze and reflected light.

De Ferranti’s Zellige glossary offers further context on this hand-cut geometric tilework. Related approaches to tesserae and assembled pattern can be explored through Mosaics – All Disciplines.

Planning the diamond lattice installation

Samples should be reviewed for colour range, sheen and edge character. A dry layout can help distribute tonal variation and resolve borders, corners and junctions before fixing. Grout colour forms part of the composition, either sharpening the lattice or allowing the handmade pieces to read more softly.

Where suitable, the design may be considered for walls, floors, furniture, tabletops and warm-climate exterior areas. Wet areas, pools and exposed settings require project-specific review.
